[ARCHIVED] Yuba Water Agency to purchase former AAA building in Marysville

Former AAA building in Marysville

Yuba Water Agency will be better able to accommodate its growing business needs with the purchase of additional office space, just blocks from the agency’s current headquarters in Marysville.

This week, the agency approved moving forward with the purchase of the 4,500 square foot former American Automobile Association building located at 1205 D Street at a cost of  $730,000.

“The agency has grown in recent years and continues to do so,” said Yuba Water Agency Administrative Manager Terri Daly. “This additional office space will allow us to proportionately house our employees, while providing more space for meetings and other agency business.”

Daly estimates that there are approximately $300,000 in required renovations, to modernize and bring the building up to code. It will also need to be furnished, but Daly hopes the facility will be ready for occupancy in April.

This building will be a temporary solution until Yuba Water Agency is able to find, or build, an appropriate work space to house all of its administrative employees, except those who work at agency’s New Colgate Powerhouse in Dobbins.

“Purchasing, instead of leasing this property gives us a lot of latitude in recovery if we want to sell it or do other things with it once we find a permanent solution,” said Yuba Water Agency Vice-Chairman Randy Fletcher.
