Focused on ensuring that its projects, programs and community investments have a direct impact on improving the quality of life for Yuba County residents, Yuba Water Agency today updated its strategic plan.

Yuba Water Agency was created in 1959 to reduce the risk of flooding and to ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply for the economic benefit of the county. The revenue generated from power sales associated with Yuba Water Agency’s Yuba River Development Project funds the ongoing operation of the project, as well as provides the means to accomplish its other missions.

“The strategic plan is the big, high-level strategy that guides how we run the agency,” said Terri Daly, administrative manager for Yuba Water Agency. “This is an update to our five-year plan, to reflect the board’s vision for everything we do, from flood risk reduction to water supply and hydropower, and including our investments in community projects that can spark economic development.”

The agency continues to be transformational in flood risk management and water supply reliability, but much more can be done for the people of Yuba County, including further investment in the programs, grants and community investments that are critical to the agency’s mission and vision of a thriving and prosperous Yuba County.

“Yuba Water Agency is critical to the future growth and improvements for this community,” said Brent Hastey, chairman of the Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors. “This update to our strategic plan spells out our continued focus on reducing flood risk and ensuring a sustainable water supply, but also emphasizes the ways we are refocusing our efforts to improve the economy and the quality of life for the people of Yuba County.”

The strategic plan identifies Yuba Water Agency’s long-term goals and lays out a general plan as to how the agency will achieve them. It also spells out the agency’s commitment to transparency and community engagement.

Yuba Water Agency also updated its reserve policy today, which outlines how the agency saves money for future project needs and operational security.
