Yuba Water Agency today agreed to provide $150,000 to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department for two new patrol vehicles. The purchase is part of an existing agreement that Yuba Water has with the department to provide security on and around New Bullards Bar Reservoir and other critical infrastructure.

“We’ve partnered with the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department for several years to ensure there are adequate resources to patrol our facilities,” said Terri Daly, Yuba Water’s assistant general manager. “This includes paying for the services of two deputies to patrol the reservoir and, when necessary, equipment to make sure the Sheriff can respond quickly in case of an emergency or other incident.”

Yuba Water owns and operates New Bullards Bar and several smaller diversion dams as part of the Yuba River Development Project, a multipurpose flood risk reduction, water supply, hydroelectric power generation, fish habitat and recreation project on the Yuba River. The project is located throughout the Yuba County foothills, about 45 minutes east of Marysville.

The agency provides recreational opportunities at New Bullards Bar Reservoir as part of its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license, including boating, houseboating, camping, hiking, fishing mountain biking and more. On average, more than 112,000 visitors recreate in the area each year.
