Yuba Water Agency today was honored as the Sacramento Business Journal’s 2022 Champion for Environmental Preservation and Sustainability for its measurable commitments and efforts to improve the health of the Yuba River watershed and support Yuba County communities.
The award was presented to Yuba Water staff and board members during the Business Journal’s annual Corporate Citizenship Awards, which celebrates and honors individuals and companies for making a difference in the region.
“Our goal at Yuba Water is to make a difference for the people of Yuba County,” said Yuba Water Board Director Brent Hastey, who accepted the award on behalf of the agency. “We’re working on forest management, we’re working on fish habitat, we’re working to make the Yuba River the premiere river in California, and we’re working to change the lives of the people in our communities.”
Yuba Water was nominated for the award by Blue Forest Conservation, a non-profit organization that leverages financial innovation to create sustainable investment solutions for environmental challenges. Blue Forest Conservation and Yuba Water Agency are two of the many partners of the North Yuba Forest Partnership, an organization working on an unprecedented scale to collaboratively plan, analyze, finance and implement forest restoration across 313,000 acres of the Yuba River watershed.
