A healthier, thinner forest reduces catastrophic wildfire risk significantly, and it also protects – and possibly even improves - water quality. The Yuba River watershed is reaping all of those benefits through a variety of projects ranging from the Yuba County foothills all the way to the top of the watershed, near the Sierra Buttes.
Yuba Water continuously seeks new opportunities to leverage its funding to build strategic, large-scale collaborative projects to address needed forest health and watershed restoration actions. Yuba Water fulfills this role in many ways, including as a project lead, grant fiscal agent, collaborative partner, as well as through direct funding to regional stakeholders through its Community Impact Grant and Loan Program.
