    Since its formation in 1959, Yuba Water has led the local effort with state and federal agencies, Congress and others to increase public safety by reducing the risk of catastrophic flooding in Yuba County.

    Ensuring a sustainable water supply for the people of Yuba County is one of the primary reasons Yuba Water exists. Partnerships, planning and collaborative agreements are at the heart of our successful, holistic management of the region’s water.

    Hydropower

    Yuba Water's hydropower facilities can generate up to 417 megawatts of clean energy, enough to supply more than 400,000 homes and businesses throughout California. Power sales revenue is reinvested back into Yuba County.

    Yuba Water maintains reliable cold-water flows for wild salmon and steelhead and supports a range of multi-benefit habitat restoration projects and fisheries research in the lower Yuba River.

    Developed with broad community participation, Yuba Water Agency’s Water Education Program includes K-12 curriculum based on the Yuba River watershed, a planned Watershed Experience Center on the Yuba River, and support of community education efforts related to our missions.

  1. For more than 60 years, Yuba Water Agency has been reducing flood risk and ensuring a sustainable water supply for the people of Yuba County. The agency's other mission areas include hydroelectric power generation, fish habitat protection and enhancement and recreation at New Bullards Bar. 

    Today, Yuba Water is laser focused on improving the economy and quality of life for Yuba County residents by reinvesting revenue back into the community, with projects that improve forest health, water infrastructure upgrades, levee improvements, water education programs and much more.
